Fringe Effects

In connection with the measurement of dielectric constant of PCBs, I did some experiments to look at the significance of the infamous "fringe effects" along the edges of the material. For a signal traveling along the length of a board, fringe effects at the ends extend the effective length, while those along the side speed the signal propagation. Using the MSA/VNA, I looked at these effects by extending the ground plane, so as to exaggerate the effects.
