MSA CB Star wiring

Post by Len Spyker » Mon Jun 01, 2015 11:27 pm

In my MSA CB  design (Len’s BOARD 1)  there are 5 x STAR CLOCK outputs with  100R series resistors driven by a single 74ACT373 driver output.ALL the other 7 main control lines also have a 100R series resistor.I have not had any feedback on problems in the 20+ MSA CB boards I have sold. Note the 74ACT series have gutsy and VERY FAST EDGE outputs so a series resistor is needed for all the clock and data drives.Apart from a large positive overshoot ringing causing double clocking a lot of RF/CMOS parts are greatly upset by any undershoot below minus-0.5V and do strange things, this applies to ALL their digital inputs not just the clock input.I recommend using twisted pairs for the clock and data and select lines grounded at each end.  Len Spyker
